About The Tour The tour starts by traveling north to the hilltop where the Hollywood sign overlooks the glamorous City of Angels. Take photos of yourself and the world-famous landmark before the tour heads into Hollywood itself. Hollywood Boulevard is next on the list, and passengers will get a chance to visit Grauman's Chinese Theatre, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, The Kodak Theatre (home of the Academy Awards) and the Roosevelt Hotel. Sunset Strip is the next tour stop. The Strip is famous for its trendy shops, boutiques, music clubs and wild inhabitants. Then, the tour will take a look at some celebrity homes and ride down Rodeo Drive, one of the most glamorous places to shop anywhere. The beaches beckon as we head to the breathtaking Pacific Ocean waterfront and picturesque Santa Monica Pier. You will love Venice Beach, emblematic of the freewheeling California lifestyle, where Muscle Beach, the Boardwalk and a host of street entertainers await you. We return to Long Beach by way of the Vincent Thomas and Gerald Desmond Bridges, spanning the world's second largest man-made harbor, Los Angeles-Long Beach. About Some of The Sites ~ Venice Beach - Hilary Duff shot a video here, Jim Morrison & the Doors and bandleader Benny Goodman both got their careers started here, and now it is the place actors Jane Fonda, Viggo Mortensen and Elijah Wood call home. Venice Beach is the free-spirited beach resort town beloved for its Bohemian character, boutiques, street performers, artists, fortune tellers on the boardwalk and as a stellar place for people-watching (not to mention star-gazing)! ~ Santa Monica Pier - designed as a pleasure palace and park a century ago, currently this restored family playground is gearing up for its 100th Gala in 2009. You'll enjoy the gift shops and boutiques, and see a faithfully restored vintage carousel and working merry-go-round complete with leaping horses. ~ Muscle Beach - Way back in the 1930s, gymnasts displayed their astonishing agility while muscled men bench-pressed bathing beauties at a beach next to Santa Monica Pier. Soon, it became famous as Muscle Beach. When Santa Monica shut down its Muscle Beach in 1959, the athletes and their throngs of admirers simply moved to the "new" Muscle Beach, two miles down the coast in Venice. Over the years, many famous bodybuilders have trained at Muscle Beach, including Richard Harrison, Vic Tanny, Jack La Lanne and Dave Draper. Muscle Beach is also where the opening scenes of the movie White Men Can't Jump - starring Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes - was filmed.
~ The Hollywood Sign is the one image that represents the glitz, glamour, fame, fortune and the misfortune of Hollywood. The sign has a legendary past, one that includes a disappointed starlet taking a suicide leap off the "H" in 1932 and its drunken caretaker crashing his car into the "H" in the 1940s causing it to burst into flames. The sign is also a movie star in its own right, having appeared in dozens of films. PLEASE NOTE: This tour is not available on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or New Year's Eve. Don't forget your sunscreen and sunglasses. This is Los Angeles we're talking about here! Protect yourself from the heat while looking your absolute coolest. Frequently Asked Questions
